Overview of Scheme benefits

The Scheme provides members with a range of valuable benefits, which include: 

• a pension payable when you retire
• the opportunity to take some of your pension as a tax-free cash sum at retirement
• annual increases to your pension in line with inflation, once your pension is being paid
• early retirement pension options
• death benefits (including a spouse’s pension) and earlier access to your pension in the event of permanent ill health.
